Default Online IQ Test (This can't be right ...)

I hadn't taken an IQ test since I was a kid. The Political IQ thread got me curious, so I did a quick search online and found this site:

    www.IQTest.com

I took the test (which didn't take very long) and then had my results e-mailed to me. This is what I got:

    ***

    70 - 85 Below average
    85 - 115 Average (68% of test takers)
    115 - 130 Gifted

145 - 160 Extraordinary genius (Less than 1% of test takers)
    160+ "Unmeasurable" genius

    ***

Now I find this very difficult to believe, particularly considering the experiences I've been through over the last few years and their effect on me. I'm a smart guy, but not as smart as this result suggests. I will take the test a few more times and see what my scores average out to be. I remember as a kid I scored high, but not at the genius level (Gifted, I think, but I would remember if I'd scored at the Genius level).

If anyone else is willing to take this test and share their results and opinion of the test, I'd appreciate it. Also, if someone knows of a better, more reputable place to take an IQ test online, please post a link. Thanks.

    Complete Personal Intelligence Profile Explanation
You will receive a General IQ Score for free. However, should you wish to obtain an in depth report, a wide spectrum 13 part analysis of your performance is available for $9.95. With your complete profile, you will receive a graph and complete written explanations regarding your scores in each of the test's 13 individual areas of intelligence.
I guess they give unrealistically high IQ scores to sell their in depth reports. Nobody's going to have their IQ analyzed by people who just told you that your IQ is even lower than W's

I got 155, and I'm not even native English speaker.

Yup, most definately a money making scam. i bet it would be difficult NOT to get a high score, as the point is simply to get you to purchase whatever crap they're peddling.

There was a society in the UK for high IQ people once, called "Mensa" (And no, I have no idea why a society for high IQ people should be called "Table", before anyone asks. I've never thought of tables as being especially clever myself.)

It got on the news a bit.

I couldn't see the point myself. If you are so damn clever, show it, go out and change the world, don't take a test.

The most famous member was a bloke called Clive Sinclair, an inventor, whose signature product was an electric tricycle about 12 inches high which was expensive slow, had a short range, and was completely invisible to all forms of road traffic. Oh, and what's wrong with a bicycle anyway?

Other British inventors came up with Radar, the jet engine, or penicillin, but hey, they weren't in Mensa...

yup. sounds like it's a big rigged or weighted. an interesting test of this would be to go there and purposely miss about 50% of the questions and see what score you get.

Wohoo! I am not sure wether it is that trustworthy. Members have to pay a once-in-a-lifetime fee, and if the test is easy they might make more money... The test was considerably harder than the other one though, and then there is the pressure of time which they have put in.

There is a timed test at the Highsociety site. But make sure to turn off the popup-blocker/ turn on Java (or something) since after pressing Ok to see the result, my browser killed itself and no result was shown.

Search the internet for uncommonly difficult IQ tesys and try out the hoeflin test. It is both a tough test and a nice puzzle. As for IQ itself, it is an excellent predictor of mental capacity and up to 130 scale, it predicts almost perfectly the educational level, profession and salary. Much higher levels (160 and above) are good indicators of genius but they may not encompass all of its aspects (think of the idiot savants). The internet pop-up IQ tests however......
