Yes, I think you will find that you are stuck with this.
I was one of a few that fell foul of Gamespy with name change.
All I wanted to do was inform them of a change of email addy and they wouldn't let me use my original name .
As soon as I registered with my new email addy my name wasn't allowed.
Kept telling me there was already a person with that name.
So I had to change my name slightly to get it accepted.
Sad state of affairs I know.
