    Exclamation CTD Imperial Campaign

The year was 193 BC. I had just finished going over the senate's mad request to erradicate the Brutii family and blockade Scipii ports when I completed my moves and ended the turn.

Much to my dismay, the screen flickered and my desktop took the place of my beautiful empire.

WHAT THE BUGGERING HELL?! I cried.

Every time I reload the game it crashes at that point.
someone please tell me there is a way around this as I think my last proper save game was 208 BC.

There was a battle during this save game which slowed my computer down to roughly 2 or 3 fps. No increase in CPU use, a strange increase in mem use however, leaving me with a paltry 80MB but no trail to say where it all went (to the pub for a pint perhaps?). Could this be related I wonder.

Is the crash happening during some other faction's move? One possibility is some unit is moving towards an abandoned fort that is going to be demolished at the beginning of the next turn. The game will CTD. The solution is get somebody into the fort before your turn ends, or make that unit not able to get into the fort (such as deleting the unit or the fort itself).

i noticed you said that the brutii were destroyed. i used to get a lot of CTDs when i clicked on the faction destoryed image and/or when i got the moving images in the senate options. i lowered my video specs under options and that solved it.

No, the Brutii are not yet destroyed. I only just recently recieved the order to take them out.
I searched the map for empy forts, and found none. The crash happens as SOON as I press the end turn button.

I've moved all my available armies in different patterns, trying to figure out if theres some way to avoid this CTD, but to no avail. It may be something I can't see. If there is a for thtere its enshrouded in the fog of war. How do I remove the fog of war and once this fort is found, how do I do something about it?

To remove the fog of war, first type:

" ~ " on the left of Number 1 on the top left of a standard keyboard

Then "toggle_fow". I havne't used it for a while so I don't quite remember whether you need the underline or not. You can find such info. on any cheat list.

What I do not know is how to remove a fort that's not in your reach, but I am sure there are capable players in this very forum that knows how. If you can provide your save game file then maybe they can mod it for you.

There might be other reasons. I used to get CTD when my direct X was broken by unknown reasons. The game CTD as I call up anything that contains an animated clip such as Senate, the Wonder, etc.. After reinstalling direct X (from Windows page) problems were solved.

Welcome back to 208 B.C. Hope you can fix it, but the chance of corruptions increases with complexity later in the game. Late turn saves are bad about producing corruptions. Frequent saves, but only at the beginning of each turn are the answer. It's a rule I learned the hardway in earlier TW games. I found I could either spit curses at the CTD's or conform As much as it goes against my nature I conformed.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.
