"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

If you look at it objectively this is of course an alarming development. EA is gaining way too much power and influnce in the gaming industry.
One of the major German gaming magazines (PC Games) seems to have abandoned all impartiality when it comes to EA games. They gave BFME a score of 93% which seems to be slightly over the top (even if the game really is quite good). Other EA games also tend to get unusually high scores...
i call them Evil A-Holes, (i can't type the actual word because of the no swearing rule on this site); that seems to describe them perfectly
The funny thing is, they sued Microsoft because of monopolising the market...

The NFL is being really naive with this. This sole contractual agreement will actually depreciate the value of the NFL franchise if it is no longer a hotly contested item with different brands (and customers) looking for games. In effect, the NFL franchise will be worth exactly as much as EA wants, and is able, to make it worth.
