WTF!!! EA just signed a 5 year deal making them the sole company allowed to create NFL games. This kills any competition on the market, including from ESPN. This means less choice/higher prices for the consumer.

yes EA is evil, but no this is not news that EA is evil
EA has done countless other evil things long before this latest one
Does anyone actually play NFL games?
Yeah, like Navaros says, this is just further proof that EA is evil. It also means that without competetion from the likes of ESPN football that EA can spend less each year developing Madden and still sell more games![]()
They're also talking about having a separate "management" NFL game. Wanna bet the they take the Franchise mode out of Madden and put it in their new management game? THen if you wanna play a Franchise on madden you've got to buy both games? They tried this with their FIFA series, but their management game sucked compared to Champ Manager so it failed as a marketing ploy. But with a sole license for the NFL....

You are kidding right? Madden is a ginagerous cash cow for EA. They sell millions of copies of it each year.

If you look at it objectively this is of course an alarming development. EA is gaining way too much power and influnce in the gaming industry.
One of the major German gaming magazines (PC Games) seems to have abandoned all impartiality when it comes to EA games. They gave BFME a score of 93% which seems to be slightly over the top (even if the game really is quite good). Other EA games also tend to get unusually high scores...
i call them Evil A-Holes, (i can't type the actual word because of the no swearing rule on this site); that seems to describe them perfectly
The funny thing is, they sued Microsoft because of monopolising the market...

The NFL is being really naive with this. This sole contractual agreement will actually depreciate the value of the NFL franchise if it is no longer a hotly contested item with different brands (and customers) looking for games. In effect, the NFL franchise will be worth exactly as much as EA wants, and is able, to make it worth.
