Thread: movement range?

  1. #1

    Question movement range?

Anyone know how to change movement range on strategic map?
I'd like to have fleets move faster. I don't think it takes half a year to sail from Italy to Greece!

I knew which file it was but I forgot it! Stupid me :) Which file should be modified to change the movement range for ships and armies?

Additionally - is it possible to make an IMMOBILE unit - I want to make a 'Fortress Garrison' unit w/c should be stuck to the place where it's built - if that's possible.

    Cheers,

iirc it's the Data\descr_character.txt file. You edit the value on the line that says:
    starting_action_points 80

I haven't actually tried this myself, but it seems logical, and I'm pretty sure I remember someone saying that they'd got it to work.

    Thanks for your reply, Encaitar.
Changing that the number in "starting_action_points" does affect movement range. Though it does it to everything: fleets, armies, and agents, and I want to change only fleets.

    Hi there!

Thanks for the info :) Would it be possible though to make another army or general type unit with really limited movement points or are we limited to those in the game? I'd like to make a 'fortress/local militia type unit' that should be pretty much stuck to wherever it starts out (to represent provincial locally raised units or fortress units in places where there should be fortifications or cities but due to the 200 province limit I can't place them there)

Also is it possible to change the affect of the terrain though? Not the movement points but the specific terrain, like to make Dense Woods just barely traversable?

    Thanks very much,
    Clare
