A horse of a different color

Hi guys,

What determines the horse color that a unit rides on? I want to mount some fine fellows on greys but I keep getting chestnuts. Can this be changed? Can there be more mounts - unit specific mounts (with their own unique saddle cloths) particularly? - per faction?

I suppose it is the mount type: light horse, medium horse, heavy horse, generals horse. I haven't tested it though.
