I was so depressed my 18th birthday I couldn't even have a party. I just didn't want one. Celebrating gettign old? WTF? I hate getting old. It f$cking sucks. I'm gonna start eating ultra healthy from now on and sleep less. I heard sleeping less makes you age slower. Is that true or am I wasting my energy?

What do you guys think??

I'm always trying to stay asleep and try very hard not to get up before 12 - looks at watch damn not even 12 yet.

I know how you feel about getting older. At least on my 18th i could drink legally - was great knowing i didn't have to worry bout going up to the bar and getting refused service cos of my age

That's not entirely true.

Having lived a mentally promiscuous youth, I can attest to the glories of multi-day parties, astrological acid trips, live concerts, lazing about, and the endless, joyful, and often destructive quest for knowledge of new things. It really was great.

But there are benefits to getting older, the best, perhaps, being appreciation. There are many things you are simply not equipped to appreciate at 18 that blossom in great delight when you are a bit older. You still have a lot of fun, it's simply different fun. And your level of individuality and self-responsibility grow as well. You become... more you. And it's nice to be able to talk to someone you've known for twenty five years and still trust completely.

And of course there are the women. When I was 24 I had a 35 year old girlfriend. When I was 36 I had a 19 year old girlfriend. Now I'm 41 and I have a 35 year old girlfriend again. It's great!

And when an 18 year old kid walks into our log yard asking for work, believe me, he's looking at all the guys in their 30s and 40s wondering if he'll be able to keep up. You get older, you get tougher. Trust me, it ain't so bad.

Well things always seem better when you look back at them. But if you had to relive them you'de realize that they are not so great. Plus i hardely think acid trips are good.

What are you not equiped with? I am very mature and therefore "appreciative". Getting older in age doesn't mean you get more mature. I've seen 80 year olds who still act and talk like 15 year olds about women.

On the first part, I am delighted to say you are completely wrong. I know several people I would not only trust with my life, but with the lives of my family. And they would trust me with theirs. That's another good thing that with time and age.

As far as the never trusting someone, i disagree whole heartedly, i have friends id tell anything too and would trust with my life. A real friend can be even closer than any family you have because you chose your friends but you cant pick your family. If you dont have that BP then you are missing out on a lot in life. admittedly you risk getting stung but the pros far out wey the cons.

About the trust thing, I actually trust some people but what i really meant was you cannot trust people to be who you want them to be. People change with time.

In experience ive learnt i can trust certain people with certain things but theres other areas they cant be trusted. So theres no-one i completely trust and it doesn't leave me unfullfilled, just wary.
