Agreed, lego is the best toy ever, me and my dad created thousands of constructions when I was around 8-14, when I stopped. Then he introduced me to the technical lego stuff, you know that?

Technik (think that was what it was called) was great although the normal lego is one of the best toys ever. I used to have loads including a few sets like a police station.

granted, it was fun with space theme, castles and medieval themes, and pirates and whatnot. But the MOST fun was to develop your own constructions, instead of following the drawings and diagrams, much to easy.

    Greatest thing ever!!!

I still have some in my room (A lego Sopwith Camel and a Fokker Dr1 triplane) and am 19.

I have found that Ikea construction sets (like beds) are really easy to put together because of Lego or maybe thats just me.

My brother and I both got Legos very early in our childhood. We may have put the models together once when we first received the new set, but they were disassembled soon after when we got tired of them and the pieces were put in a large laundry basket. Eventually we had two giant laundry baskets full of legos. We spent hours for days for weeks for months for years building anything that came to mind--castles, machines, space ships, you name it (not a working grandfather clock though--that's awesome). Aside from the swimming pool in the park across the street from our house, the Legos were probably the best "babysitters" we had. I think they had a lot to do with the heightened creative abilities that he and I both developed. If I had kids, Legos would be one of the primary toy sets I'd get them once they were old enough to know not to try and eat them.

The company is not doing too well today sadly.

It seems todays kids want to be entertained without having to work at it.

Over the years I have built:
    A klingon Bird of Prey
    Another star trek ship
    BattleMechs
A very small Spiderman that transforms into a spider
A fleet of starships and starfighters and I made up a universe/background to go with it.(I want to make a computer game based those)
Loads of gun emplacements and turrents
An army of Lego tachnic men with standised equipment and guns(more than 20)
    An armadillo

Lego was my favorite. I had tons of the stuff. Absolutely the greatest toy ever made. That and the original GI Joes. Not those new wanker things but the originals back in the late 60s and early 70s.

A couple of crates of Lego, another crate of GI Joes, and a backyard and I was the happiest kid on Earth.

Back then we knew how to play. I feel sorry for today's kids. They are missing out on so much. Too much watching and not enough making.

My brother and I had a lot of fun with Legos. We had the Space legos and would build all sorts of things. I used to make cyborgs out of the Legomen by replacing their heads with computer consoles. My dad did not understand that behavior. Later, I discovered something that took our Lego playing to the next level: a 3-foot rubber band that came from a mattress package. We connected this to a board and made a powerful launcher that would send tiny, improvised vehicles hurtling towards more complicated larger ones. The explosions were impressive. Pieces of the ships would be sent all over the basement, along with the individual parts of the Legomen that we placed inside the ships. I had fun re-creating the events of the accident and seeing how the pieces landed where they did. To this day I've yet to see another play set that has focused on NTSB-style crash investigation.

Once I made an onager out of a chair, shoelaces and Lego.

I worked quite well, but there was some strutural problems (lego bending and the lego coming apart after firing).

I don't want to moan, but where did this S come from on the end of Lego. Saying Legos is like saying sheeps.
