Default How to dismount cavalry units?????

    Hi brothers!

Could anyone explain me how to dismount cavalry units before battles?
I've not found hotkeys nor right click and the option!
    How to do that?

OK when a battle starts there is the screen where they break down who are the generals and the units who are going to be involved etc. This is where you auto-calc or command personally.

The next screen shows the layout of where you will be fighting and if you are attacking it tells you the weather conditions you will be fighting in. Here you can decide to wait or begin battle.

The next screen lets you position your troops. If your defending then you can place troops wherever you want, but if your attacking then you can only pick a formation. Here is where you can dismount troops. Right click on a cavalry tab on the bottom of the screen. A list of commands like rout, halt, and withdraw should appear. One of these commands should be dismount/remount. Remember only certain cavalry can dismount when you are attacking others can only dismount during seiges. Hope it helps.

    Thank you, Sensei,

I will try this but I think I've already followed this way. Maybe I have deployed wrong units!

You can dismount most mounted units in the way described above, but Feudal Knights may only be dismounted during a siege battle.

That's probably the case, deploying the wrong units. Dismounting cavs frustrated me to no end when I started playing. The trick is to follow the outline that I gave you when you are defending an attack during a seige. Do it once as a test. I can guarantee all cav units can be dismounted in that condition. Once you figure out how to do it, then you can play around during the setup of other battles to see what can dismount and what cannot.

My only consolation is that I rarely dismount units because I usually auto-calc seiges and I want cav during any other type of engagement.

There are Instances when dismounting is the only option. I find in late games that Royal Knights will chew up Chivalric Knights, because the latters inferior defense and armour. Dismounting to Chivalric Foot Knights will often give you a fighting chance. Also, being heavily outnumbered by Cav and anti-Cav units, it can be wise to dismount and set up in a forest.

Yeah thats true, sometimes dismounting is the only way to go.
In fact I usually dismount when there is a bridge battle.
I just don't like my calvary being involved in a determination battle.

I never thought of that, hmm I will have to add it to the arsenal.

Bridge battles I still keep some of my cav. I like to apply constant pressure once I get the defenders to rout. Although I will dismount as many as I can when defending a bridge. Foot Knights of any type can hold a bridge a disturbingly long time. But then again so can Feudal Spears.
