    Angry Mass Rebellions

I dont know if mass rebellions ever happened to y'all but once as the Byzantines I had conquered about 80% of the map and just about to defeat the Angevin Empire when suddenly after 30ish years of Byzantine rule Germany and Spain started to rebel. Eventually it got so bad that even my land that i started with rebelled also. Any clue what caused this mass rebellion of the populace???

Hmm....Is your Emperor on an island? Like...did u land him in Ireland?

Otherwise, I dont know. If you have kept the same governors and garrisons, then the question above might be the reason!!

No my emperor was on the front lines and I was about to begin my attack.
My emperor had very good virtues that should have increased the happiness, I think his only vice was that he was a coward.

It just seems to happen sometimes same happened to me as the byzantines conquered everything but a few provinces and everything was rebelling i was 200,000 florins in debt and was running out of time so what i did was, i got all my strong major armies and conquered the rest of the map as quickly as possible very low taxes in every province so oncei conquered everything i could spare the men to quickly crush any rebellions.

It happends with all factions when you are close to victory, the game is programmed that way, nothing you can do about it.

Increased likelyhood of rebellion is hard coded into the game, but it is possible to overcome this. Here is my system:

    1) I always use auto-tax, with the following change: set the default loyalty to 180% rather than 120%
    2) I maintain a garrison in every province consisting of the following:
    · 1 x 100 man spear unit
    · 1x 60 man sword unit
    · 1 x 60 man missile unit
    · 1 x 40 man cavalry unit
    3) I always make my provincial governor one of the above-mentioned units
    4) I make sure the general I choose as governor has at least 4 acumen and at least 3 dread
    5) I keep the following strategic agents in every province:
    · 1 x Assassin
    · 2 x Spy
    · 1 x Religious agent (i.e. Bishop, Cardinal, Imam, etc…)
    6) Make sure every province has the following buildings, minimum:
    · Town watch
    · Church/Mosque
    · Tavern
    · Brothel
    · 80% farm upgrade
    · Highest Merchant upgrade possible
    · Port
    · Any Mines available
    · Border Forts

The result of this system is that any provinces you have held for at least 5 years will always be auto-taxed at the “very high” level, without ever having loyalty drop below 180%. This maximizes revenue and stability. I have NEVER had a revolt or rebellion using this system, and always have ample supplies of cash lying around.

    Hope this helps.

I had around 80% of the map once. Didn't rebel. But once I sent my English King on a crusade into an area without a port...

    It was practically game over.

Guess the you need your king to remain put at your capitol when your empire is very large.

Yup had this happen alot towards the end of the game. It seems like the comp gets ticked off when you don't want to settle for a lesser victory and tries to punish you through mass uprisings.
