As far as getting othe factions ancillaries there is only 1 that I know of and that's the herbalist. Don't know wich temples give this ancillery but a look at the temples guide in the ludus magna should tell you.

As far as senate offices you have to work your way up. Theres only 1 way to to get a chance for a higher up position immediately and that is asassins. I had a game where all the senate positions were killed off but 2 of them. Even under that case you have to compete against 2 other factions for those open slots. So if you keep asassinating eventually it could end up with all your generals in position. There is no game difference with holding all the posititions of the senate other than the fact you will have a lot of high influence generals.

EDIT my bad this post did'nt get put in the Ludus magna but the link will get there.

When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.

    1) Sometimes. It depends on the building and the faction. For instance, theaters only give Greek factions (Greek Cities, Macedon, Seleucid Empire, Thrace) Actors. On the other hand, they can give anyone Musicians. Check out export_descr_ancillaries.txt for the full list of culture restrictions. They exist in one of two places—either the ExcludeCultures field for the individual ancillary, or the FactionType condition for the ancillary's trigger.

    2) I really don't know what influences the probability of being elected to the Senate. As far as I know, there have been no investigations. Of course, there are always the "electability" qualities of certain traits and ancillaries.

    3) A number of acquirable ancillaries (such as Elder Senator, obtained by hanging around in cities with a curia) and traits (such as Deceiver_Virtue, largely obtained by ordering espionage, assassination, sabotage, and bribery, and by hanging around temples to Mercury) boost Senate popularity, and those often increase electability as well.
