    Default Killzone

If you have a PS2, go out immediatly and buy kill zone.

My god what a game, if you like gritty, realistic, urban, war games, then this is a gammers heaven.

The levels are huge, much larger than halo's. Each level is divided up into segemts that took me an hour to complete the first level alone in all. The combat is super, with the A.I. being uber realistic. They even make use of the weapens secondary attacks, and the use squad tactics and cover. The presentation of the war and eviroment is complete, you feel as if you are completely immersed and there in the treches fighting along.

All in all I would give it a 9.6 out of 10. Defently what they advertised and more, a halo killer.

I saw a demonstration of this game in the store and I couldn't believe I was watching a ps2 game. I was very very impressed.

Hmmm, I got it for my son for Christmas. I entertained the thought of giving the campaign a try but was a little put off by a review I read. However, now after reading your comments I definitely will give it a shot (so to speak )

I gt it for christmas. It is very good, I like the way it seems like a real war. It is hard to get used to to use the two analog sticks to aim but after about 2-3 campaign sections you get the hang of it.

It seems like it is PS2's answer to Halo2 (Killzone is better IMHO)

I dunno, I prefer Halo 1 to halo 2 so...
    halo1>halo2>killzone imho...
Then again, I much prefer PC keyboard and mouse control to the controller

Yes, I found it very hard to use it compared to the mouse and keyboard like GTA or Halo

The controls are very very sensitive. You really have to get over the learning curve to that, but once you do, you can run through the levels with all guns balzing pushing the Helghast back. Trust me, the controls are a good thing, the sensitivity really comes in handy in the later levels, where the Helghast really pull some nast attacks on you.

Well I picked it up and I can honestly say that 99% of the reviewers were smoking crack when they gave this game bad scores. This is an excellent shooter, amazing levels and great combat, it is almost as if everyone just decided not to like it(punnishment for hyping it so much?). Better then Halo? Yes I say. It has the same great action (just not as smooth) but overall the design is superior in every way.

I haven't played Killzone, but I never really got the big deal about Halo. It always just strauck me as another Sci-Fi shooter. Not too special, IMHO.

The Helghast are one of the coolest opponents ever concieved... the covenant are pansies in comparison

Killzone also has one of the best intro movies that ive seen in a long time, there are only two games where I bother to watch the intro every time I start up: the first is Killzone and the second is Dawn of War

Yes the intro rocks, with the speech by the Helgan leader, that stuff touches the soul. I love how the Helghast flag looks so similar to the Nazi's in WW2 it seems to add a good verses evil theme. Especially how they say Helgan was a fallen beaten nation that has rose again. Anybody connect 2 and 2 together, and say they are trying to say Helgan is Germany. Oh well I love this game, and will defend it to the day I die.

Also the fact that the Helghast are fascists, have a british/german accent, execute people like its a hobby, engage in "blitzkriegs" and claim to be of a different race ;)

Well, I started a campaign tonight. It looks like it could be fun if I get used to the controls. The aiming is waaaaaay too sensitive for my tastes. It seems like I go from a minor adjustment to a major swing with hardly a move of the right stick. The sniper rifle is tough too. I'm getting used to moving around, but I find that too often I get hungup on an object I can't see. In other games like MoH, I think it would allow you to "slide" around the obstacle and it had few movement traps. In KZ, I kept getting trapped against obstacles in the trenches of the first mission. I'm going to persist though and try to get over the learning curve.

In general I agree. I didn't think the MoH games were too bad though. However, we got UT for the PS2 and then returned it a few days later. Aiming was so awful they had an "auto-lock" feature you could turn on to "assist" in aiming.

It is not ideal to play with a gamepad but once you get used to it it isn't that bad. I am waiting for the next gen pad, it will have touchscreen, making it superior to a mouse keybord setup. Pinpoint accuracy with a analogue strafe/movement system, bring it on!
