How do you transfer retinue

I have tried to drag and drop retinue from one general to another without any luck. How do you move retunue between generals, diplomats, etc

they both have to be in the same army/city, then select the guy you want to move and "drag and drop" to the general you want to move him to. It should work.

Thanks. I was under the impression that you could transfer retinue to parts of your empire where it may be most needed. Obviously it is not so easy...
