There are some folks who allow a province to rebel continually so that they can send in a General who crushes the rebellion and gains valor from the battles and Virtues from the way the rebel prisoners are treated.

This is also a way to get access to rebels that you can bribe.

Remove all of you spies from a province that is near to a stack of your units, remove all of the units from that province, maybe give the province a General with a Vice that adds unhappiness to the folks. Don't build any happiness buildings (better yet don't build anything there) in the province and before long it will rebel.

There are different types of uprisings, and altho it is easiest to get newly conquered provinces that are primarily populated with adherents of a religion that is different from yours, sometimes I have found that these religious rebellions can be larger and more difficult.

IMHO this is slightly cheezy, but hey, whatever makes the game fun for you.

Ha! religious rebellions are sometimes worse than anything, the amount of high class troops and top generals they access to is ridiculous, need a full compliment of heavy infantry and heavy cavalry to deal with some of the ones ive had.

Well ichi pretty much summed it all up. There are a couple of provinces that like to revolt a lot, lithuania, portugal and Scotland come to mind.

Personally I use this exploit in finland from time to time, nice isolated area that isnt going to play a vital role in any dynasties holdings. Just conquer it, raise taxes, leave, and then you will get a revolt.

one little cavaet, if the province was once held by another dynasty and not just a rebel faction, you might get a loyalist rebellion. That becomes tricky because the troops are normally much better, they are loyal to another faction, and when that rebelion retakes the province it then becomes the other factions province.

So beware of where and when you pull this off.
There are few things more annoying than some idiot who has never done anything trying to say definitively how something should be done.

As to rebellious province some are more so than others, e.g. Portugal.

Also each Star requires twice the amount of battles won as the previous. A little like the "richter" scale. Each point is twice as strong as the previous. e.g. 5 is twice a strong as 4.
