Blockade

I have had my ports blockaded by the AI with one ship at my port. How can I do this to the AI?

Just simply place one of your boats in the ocean province that the enemies port is located in. If you have played Rome Total War with its special blockading feature where you can blockade ports exactly, you will not find this in Medieval Total War. In MTW once a ship is placed in the ocean section that an enemies port is in, trade with that port will be automatically cut off.

Hit the V key to light up the sea regions - green regions are yours, red are blockaded by an enemy. As CK stated, just place one or more of your ships in the sea regio you wish to blockade.
