Thread: Can you even edit the music? I failed. lol

Default Can you even edit the music? I failed. lol

I must be doing something wrong. I unpacked the Musics files and decided to change them for my personal game since I dislike the music. I edit the proper Music File and added my mp3 I also made sure the filder was in place as well as the Mp3. lol

Same music plays as normal in the game. I tried deleting the DAT AND imx file, still music is the same?

Is the music in the game possible to edit? It must be but I can figure out what else to edit. Any help would be great since I mute the music since I bought the game and would like ot hear music while playing, but of my choice.

    Thanks in advance.

I only bothered with the main menu music but it should work for anything else:

In descr_sounds_music.txt you will find a list of entries with music files. Simply change the file entry to whatever directory you have put in the new music file.

    For example I placed Frontend.mp3 in Data\sounds\music.

    In descr_sounds_music.txt:

    Code:
    ;;; FRONTEND

    	culture roman
    		state MUSIC_FRONTEND
    			event
    				folder data/sounds/music
    				Frontend.mp3
    			end
And it works. It may take some guessing which entry is used for what.

Weird I tried that and it didnt work for for me. lol.

Well if it worked for you then I got to go back at it.

    Thanks,

I'll post if it works. Did you add a new music file or just move and existing one?

Maybe they have to be named exactly the same? I didnt do that.

Oh yeah, now I remember. Rename Data\sounds\events.dat to something else so that R:TW cannot find it. That file contains an index in the same way as the text file. It overrides the text file if it exists.

    Thanks John!

    That worked.

I knew there must be something to delete I just was deleting the wrong one. lol

Finally some good roman style music to listen to!

P.S. John do you thinks its possible to add a Spreadsheet to the game to keep track of kills? Or is that most likely a hardcoded thing?
