    Wink Christmas again!

    -
About a third of the Christian world (namely Eastern Orthodox communions) are celebrating Christmas today.

We attended the service at the Armenian cathedral this morning. Very good music and prayer for the victims of the latest Asian earthquake were served.

My best wishes to whom that celebrate the Christmas today --and everybody else.

(For the record, I'm a pious Muslim.)

I'm Orthodox too but I don't remember Christmas in Greece very well. I think I remember celebrating a little later then everyone else though.

Is the Armenian Church on the same lineage as the Greek and byzantine church?

Basically yes. The Gregorian Apostolic (from Surp [St.] Kirikor = Gregorios) church is an Orthodox one. But they (along with Syriacs, Copts and some others) refused the 451 Khalkedon creed and kept to the "Monophysite" belief.

Quite a number of Armenians are Catholic. Except that they practice the eastern rite in Armenian, they are in full communion with Vatican. Some Armenians are Protestant.
