Thread: Mountain tops

    Default Mountain tops

Why do mountain tops look so plain ? If for example you load up the Alpine Valley custom battle, the mountains look really aweful.

It's as if they have no textures, but are just sheets of white.

I can't seem to find any texture file that impacts this.

    Any ideas?

Perhaps it is applying a blanket white snow texture?
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

I think it is that in the distance, because there is so much to texture, it uses colours not textures. I think , because if you zoom up high, you can see the textures fade away to colours.

It might also depend on your vid card, anisotropy, and game settings as well. Things in the distance will likely be displayed quite differently on say a MX400 and a 6800GT.

I have a a RADEON 9800 PRO so I'm sure it's not video card and I play with 16 AF and 6 AA.
