Estimated size is 300 MB plus an 80 MB patch for music. Apologies to 56K modem users (like me) but it won't get much smaller.

I've almost totally lost interest in RTW, but I had to come back here to see what Hoggy had done with his magnificent mod. I'm going to wait until it goes gold before I play it ( I don't want to have anything spoiling my fun with it) but even to reach Beta...what a wonderful occasion. Congratulations to Hoggy and all his band of modders on reaching open Beta. This is a great accomplishment. Bravo.

first of all congratulations for the best ever RTW mod and not just a mod but a unique creation.

Is there any news on the progress of ironing this great game? Can we hope for a bug free release any time soon?

BTW some features of 1.6 are very interesting as night battles and swimming it would be great to be incorporated in the game.

    All hail hoggy and team

Yup, Familyguy is fixing the demon settlement ctd and bigbeef has been working on other minor bugs and on traits. How long it will take, I don't know. Hopefully not to long. about 1.6, we're not thinking that far ahead (yet) first a stable and better worked out 1.5 version. Then we'll see what the future will bring.

If you had been here since the first concept drawings that Hoggy put up, you'd realize that the Campaign map is not meant to be realistic; it's a map and a game that represents what people in the olden days would have in their minds...a map of disproportionate distances and areas, filled with fantastical warriors of unimaginable splendour or fearsomeness, a map populated on it's most remote regions with demons, monsters, and ghosts...

Blank to all !! First of all I would want to make compliments to the authors for this large one mod !! it is simply fantastic !! best.
I want to signal a problem that I have found and that is preventing me to end the campaign.
I'm playing at very hard level with the Chinese (I'm at 35°turn) but when I besiege whichever Yomi's city the game collapses punctually The same thing happens if I make double click on whichever yomi's city . I think that is a problem with the loading of the window of presentation of the yomi's city (but I don't know what can be done).
I hope that my signalling is of aid for the increase of Blue Lotus, and also that will be of aid to me to continue mine campaign. I'm waiting your answer good bye to all and thanks a lot again .

Btw, why does all the Chinese buildings look like they have roofs layered with gold? The golden roof and the orange wall hue looks funky... :(

It has been proven that the myth of stirups was invented by westernophile historians; actually the stir ups have (and had) almost no effect on the lance impact, but rather allowed horse archers to be more accurate and agile. There are a few websites on the web that deal with this and have provided good proof by jousting exercises. Also I'm sure you'll find this been brought up earlier on the TW forums. One should keep in mind that there is no apparent reason to assume that the Macedonian shock cavalry weren't effective, not for the Parthian cataphracts, not for Carolingian knights; quite the opposite. I'm no Mongolian expert, but I think it's reasonable to assume that the reason they didn't use lances is the one you've stated literally (tactics) rather than it being impossible.
Stirrups are very important. Stirrups allowed a rider to wear heavy armor on horseback so they didn't fall off.

The Parthian cataphracts had to tie the riders onto the horses with ropes, severly reducing their effectiveness. The stirrup allowed European knights to wear heavy chainmail and plate armor and still stay on the horse.

by the way, I've read the Entire thread up to this point, all 39 pages of it... >_<
