Why? What's wrong with using stuff with Manchu Qing influence? IMO, the Qing Dynasty was far less corrupt and had far more able emperors than any the Song and Ming dynasties had.

I think that the EB team will be willing to give you a run for their money. After all, they started out before RTW even was released. (But Hoggy's mod is amazing, especially considering it's one crazy guy doing all the work.)

No, the Manchus didn't consider themselves Han, but during most of the existence of the Qing dynasty, nationalism in the modern sense wasn't known or was rarely practiced and the sense of being "Chinese" didn't exist at the time, so Han at the time doesn't necessarily mean Chinese as it is only a modern term. But the Qing Dynasty was certainly a dynasty of China, and when the West encroached on the territories of the Qing, the Qing rulers did regard themselves as representatives of China. Little wonder that Han people like Lin Zexu, Zuo Zongtang, Zeng Guofang, Liang Qichao, Kang Youwei, etc. were loyal to the Qing regime even at the most desperate times.

I like the colour. If I could make a suggestion.. perhaps you could add skulls and bones into the wall texture so it looks like the walls were made out of human bones and rocks.

And maybe the walls and buildings for the demons could be maybe less geometrically perfect ? hehe.. I know it's much easier to model a nice wall like that, and it does look nice.. but it doesn't sound like even you yourself is completely happy with it.. it would add more if it looked like it was thrown together, and not built so perfectly.

I don't know how large the wall textures are, so I don't know if it'll be possible to make it look like scattered bones built into the wall, but if you do this and make it look allright, I think it'd be quality. :D

All right, one more thing, you might have already thought of this, but will the demon units cause fear ? like elephants do ? I propose that the demons have weak attack and defense, but cause a lot of fear, reducing morale for the opposing army.

One suggestion, Hoggy; whenever you're fighting in the Daemon Kingdom it should always be a dark night with maximum fog. It'll be more spooky that way..

I agree do that and have say the sun so its a blood red colour or have the skys so they are a blackish/redish type of colour and make the lands very evil looking.

I've thought about the arguement for a few days, and I've come to the conclusion that the Chinese shouldn't be purged of Manchurian influences. However I come to this conclusion differently - definately towards the end of the regime there was Chinese nationalism, and Qing rulers often shared common interest with the Han. Certainly Manchurians have had great influence on Chinese society. However, I will not go as far to say that China as a whole stopped loathing the Manchu regime, for both political and racist reasons, and that the alliance of certain influential members of Chinese society was not a marriage of convience.
