Salve
I've just recently got my RTW game and i'm enjoying it, yet I find a couple of disturbing things.
The Time/movement ratio is totally unrealistic.
With 6 months turns, a fleet should be able to make half the mediterranean in a single turn and legions to march approximatively 2700 miles by road (a legion had a marching rate of 15 miles/day on roads) and maybe 800 on worst case scenarios. Diplomats should be able to make a quarter of Europe in six months, even if the hideous conditions peopel travelled back then!
Also, six months to raise a single, low level, unit is disproportionately long, as full multiple legions were raised in a month, in case of extreme needs.
In short:
Movement and unit building speed seems as they'd be appropiate if they'd reflect a single month.
Buildings speed seem appropriate as they are.
At the same time, multiplying the movement range would make teh game dull with armies teleporting here and there on the map.
I know it's probably hardcoded, but I ask anyway, wouldn't it be possible to elaborate a mod that has the years proceding by .1s to reflect months? Like, 220.12, 220.11, 220.10?
This way, one could leave movements and most unit building times alone and multiply per 12 the time needed to build buildings. Also ages of charachter should be tweaked to reflect months passing, not years.
I think, if it would be possible, the game would grow more slowly on the "infrastructure" level, but proceed normally on the military point of view thus making things, in my opinion, more enjyable and "economical" choices more important, as results would be more long lasting.
What do you think? And, is it ever possible?
