Who's the BEST ?

Hello everyone !

I'm playing the Egyptians in my current game, at some point i thought could my faction at his best conquer the romans at their best, that is having the best units we could possibly build - that remains to be seen, however the question is "Who is the best faction" in your opinion?

Well, since the mother off all bugs was discovered neither egypt or rome (espesually rome) can realy be evaluated.. (im talking about the missle attack = melee bug)

If by best you mean easiest to play I would say any roman faction and egypt.
Both have a very poverful and versatile military. Egypt has Good phalanx, decent cav, decent close-combat infantery and the best archery i the game.
Romans have decent cav, decent archery, and some of the best close-combat infantery in the game. They also have a lot of niche units like gladiators, wardogs and arcani.
They also both have a very rich starting area, that is also very secure. Egypt is only attacked by numidia (wich has only one poor province bordering) and seleucia, wich is also attacked be several other factions.
Romans have their back covered for a very long time by the other families, so they can fully concentrate on one area to expand.
Also the senate missions give a lot of cash early in the game.

I think the Gauls have the best archers... (Forester Warbands... who can deny their power? )

But Egypt is a close second...

I think that Rome, Egypt, Carthage, and Germany are the best in their own spcial ways...

The reason Egypt does so well is because the dessert axemen have ridiculously high defense and attack. You see them in the game and they are naked!!! fro crying out loud.

Well, a high defence stat is OK since that's meant to represent the agility and skill of the troops in avoiding attacks in close combat, but that invisible armour they wear on the other hand...

As for who is best... whichever faction is being run by the player assuming even a moderate degree of competance.

Any one of the Roman Factions as they're all allied to one another at the start of the game. Other neighbouring factions will have to go to war with possibly all three of them if attacking any one house. So!

Any faction, as long a I'm in charge of it

Prefer the Seluc's as they have a good range of troops

The best in terms of military power are the late stage Romans. Best military easily.
As far as a great selection of troops goes the seleucids and the Carthagians (I am playing RTR) are the best.
As far as missile troops are concerned the Foresters Warband kicks ass with the Egyptians close second.
Best unit can't really be assesed but I personally like the Poeni Citizen Infantry.
Best cavalry goes to the Parthians with the Sarmatians on second place.
Best foot soledier (I'm a phalanx man) is the Spartan Hoplite.

Incredibaly rich and powerful after conquering greece (which is sooooooo easy) and can then expand in any direction.

Without any doubts...i would said my first choice will be Seleucids, Greek cities and than Egypt....

If you want easy : Yes, all Romans and those Egyptian living mummies. Even after the patch I'll still think they are... unless CA do something radical.

BUT ... If what I like, they will always, always be the Seleucids. I mean, look at my name! And for the second is Carthage. The early all-out war factions are cool because R:TW doesn't have any options to play late in the game. By the time I have to fight Urban Cohorts I'd probably have five times as large the treasury of all Romans combined + more territories and perhaps troops (unlikely for the last one.)

That's pretty boring, but having everyone declaring you their arch-rival so early is a grim pride... and fun.
