Bribes

This probably has been dealt with before but just in case...

Isn't bribing way too powerful? Not in the starting turns of a campaign but when you have established yourself and got a vast treasury chest. You can literally bribe your way throug Europe or wherever you wanna bribe your self to lands. And to not mention if your cities are under siege and yor closest army is several turns away, you just send the closest diplomat there and bribe them away... this sucks.
Of course you dont need to use this glitch it but sometimes it just feels like you must.

Shouldn't this be balanced in any way?

Yes, it has been mentioned before and was said to be exploitive by most. I totally agree with you and try not to bribe a lot, there are of course some exceptions, like that one rebel peasent unit that stands on your trade route and there is just not time to fight with them.

I try to refrain from bribing but must admit I still do it quite often...

Yesterday I got one of my armies bribed; I was on a campaign in southwestern Gaul (with the Julii - VH/H) when the Spanish bribed my large stack led by a six-star general... Since I had only one army there my entire war against the gauls would have been delayed for at least 4 to 5 years. So I did the worst thing imaginable... I reloaded and then put my faction-heir in charge of the army...

well don't you guys think that without the bribing stuff you guys gonna be so bored. i mean imagine rebels spawning everywhere and you have a large amount of city captured. One turn migh cause you to fight for at least 10 battles. -.-'. in one turn i have to fight at least 5 A.I. right now and it get me so bored since they are way too easy.
Also i don't want to see pre-battle speeches over and over again, that is why bribing is good . So its not reallu exploitive.
I also don't like to do auto resolve because it can cause you a bad traits (forgot what its called)

Bribing is illegal within the game, is immoral for the player that uses it and is probably also fatning. So, don't try it. It is overpowered so that it may tempt us weak souls. But I refrain, and you too can.
Oh well, it is acceptable when dealing with rebels than don't have a general (real, not captain) in command. All units gained by bribing should be disbanded.

Strict rules Moromete! And bribing cities from your fellow Romans? (Just to soften them up before the civil war)

I agree that bribing boring rebels is OK - although I usually keep one small rebel-stack alive as a nice training ground for assassins...

Don't ignroe the fact that the AI tries to bribe all the time too. All those generals that gets those insanely high Loyalty traits gain them through failed bribes (when the faction either haven't got the money of chooses to not pay). Just like failed assassination attempts grant security traits. And I continually find high loyalty traits. I have even found a general with 800%+ to bribe... That is high.
