Increase your diplomatic skill

Hi,

Not sure if this has been posted before but as I only came across it last night I'll mention it anyway.

Diplomat of mine trying to sell map info to the Egyptians. Just for a laugh I thought I'd try to get as much as I could. Anyway, the figures involved don't matter, suffice to say that they turned me down time after time after time. Then, after yet another refusal a little marker dropped down the left hand side of my screen. I clicked on it, expecting to find 'your diplomat has just shown himself to be rubbish' or something similar, but no. 'Trait increase, Diplomacy skill + 1, Your diplomatic skills are unrivalled' (or whatever it says).

Strange, huh? Didn't have time to carry on last night to see if a lot more failures yield further increases. Anyone with a lot of time on their hands care to see if it does?

It is possible for a diplomat to get a trait increase or even a new retinue character when he fails at doing something. I really don't know the exact mechanix, maybe you should ask on Ludus Magna.
