    Default Reinforcements

So far out of about 20 battles where I have had captained reinforcements nearby I have had them enter the field only twice!!! They appear on the first battle scroll and they are visible on the battle map but they do not move across the red line onto the field!!

The last battle I had two full stacks siege a huge heavily garrisoned city. One, the reinforcements, had a captain, the other a general. Of course I assaulted with the general so I could directly control both armies. But the reinforcements were delayed! As always. So I thought I would wait to see when they came on.
I had my onagers deplete their ammo against the walls. Still no movement. I put the timer on 3x, went downstairs and had a couple of beers, came back 45 mins later, still hadn't budged! BTW (TiLiN)

I managed to take the city with only moderate losses but #$%# how come I only get reinforcements 5% of the time!!!

Maybe you have your army with 20 units? Reinforcements usually work for me but are always too late for the battle.

Reinforcements are as useless as they were in MTW. They only times when reinforcements work is when the computer cotrols the armies. It seems that they can have more then 20 units on the map

20 units is the max. amount of units you are allowed to control. Reinforcements to such armys must either be computercontrolled generals(suicide familymembers ) or captaincontrolled. If they are captaincontrolled, they are not allowed to enter the battlefielt until one of your original 20 units has left it(either by being totally destroyed or by fleeing). One reinforcement unit under your control will then be allowed to enter the battlefield. Apparently this system is going to be affected by the upcoming patch. Check the readme-thread.

o that was why i almost lost that battle i was fighting 40 units nstead of 20
i already tought that it was weird that they had so many units on the field
all the three reinforcement armies on the field at once

I had a problem with rainforcements with less than 20 units. They appeared in the corner of the map and in the stack as greyed (as normal) but... that's all. There was a farm in that corner and maybe that stoped them but IT IS A BUG for sure. It happened to me before I instaled 1.1 patch...

I've been thinking about using a strategy of 2 stacks of 10 units. (One stack with General or none.)

Using the two stacks of half size, one stacks maneuvers behind the enemy stack allowing the other to attack the stack from behind.

If you do this right, you can get battles where you have your guys boxing in the enemy.

Could be especially useful against cav armies - they can't run away.

I know the AI sometimes comes at me like this and it's tough to defend against two front at once.

This would also bring some "strategic" maneuver into the game.

You could even have 3 stacks of 10 units...might help when the AI gets those secondary attacks after the patch.
