Because we are now too lazy to call their pets over directly.
"And one should bear in mind that there is nothing more difficult to execute, nor more dubious of success, nor more dangerous to administer than to introduce a new order to things; for he who introduces it has all those who profit from the old order as his enemies; and he has only lukewarm allies in all those who might profit from the new. This lukewarmness partly stems from fear of their adversaries, who have the law on their side, and partly from the skepticism of men, who do not truly believe in new things unless they have personal experience in them."

Gladly! Your words make as much sense as something that...doesn't make much sense!

    Ahahahahahaha!

Anyway, I despise mobile phones. I refuse to carry one, and it's no great inconvenience, despite the startled look on most people's faces when I tell them it is actually possible to survive without a mobile.

Mobiles are handy to have for emergencies--you never know when you might find yourself in a bad way and far from assistance. I agree though, that they are grossly abused by most. I am particularly annoyed by the sound of them in fine restaurants, movie theaters, churchs, libraries, and classrooms.

I work mostly outdoors, in areas with few (if any) pay phones. My cell comes in handy for contacting the boss or emergency services. I've reported several vehicle accidents I've witnessed. Don't know if I saved lives...but I'm sure the first responders got there quicker.

That said, I agree I'm amused when I see someone in a grocery store aisle with a cellphone to their ear, talking to someone about what brand of beans to buy. :)

Looks like that company is marketing to the "foo-foo" crowd of folks with pampered pets. But this bit:

"The PetsCell™, 2-way communication device will also be available with an optional GPS tracking chip and a fibre optic camera for search and rescue applications."

I can see some good practical applications for: military, law enforcement and search-and-rescue operations. The GPS function, and "call owner" button could come in handy. And I like the small size.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.

The poor pet!! Chances are it'll get cancer or something!

As for mobiles I have one, but I do not use it excessively. Its there for when I need it but I don't like to use it often.

My cellphone is for my convenience and is shut off most of the time.
When they start making the pet ones with a camera and shock collar so I can see what they are up to and have the means to persuade them to listen.... I SAID GET OFF THE COUCH, okay you asked for it, set phaser to stun...
Can you imagine how frustrating it will be to get ignored by the cat on the phone too? The best way to get them to "come here" would be to play the sound of a can opener into the phone.

Cell phones are the conversationkillers. No matter what you are doing, as soon as it goes of it is the centre of attention. Especialy females shouldn't be allowed to have one.

please keep in mind that only a few, rich, stupid americans would use this product. This by no means reflects America as a whole.
