McAfee virus scan preventing multiplayer

Hi all,

If anyone's struggling to get online and is getting the 'failed to logon' message, this was being caused for me by McAfee virus scan. If I disable the on-demand scan, it lets me in. No idea why.

My setup's a bit abnormal though - my PC connects through a home-made linux router... but that shouldn't make any difference once port-forwarding's set up.

Vanya have McAfee thingie... Vanya have no problems.

First, make sure youz have the RTW app setup as a server app, so it can both send and receive messages from da net.

That works fine for Vanya. Though Vanya hasn't tried hosting yet.

If that not workie, then add the RTW port to the list of protected ports. (Vanya not know, youz have to get port numbers from others here, who will gladly supply youz with them if they know them). Vanya not sure, but maybe youz can add port to list of UNprotected ports. See if that workie for youz.
