    Could have originally been planned but considering the A.I. problems it would not be worth it.

    Don't they have to run screaming to the nearest safe area? If so, then the route direction would only be visually applicable if they lost a battle in their own province, otherwise they'd have to head in the direction of their nearest "friendly" province.

    yeah I agree on that one too Prodigal , also when I fought a battle defending a ford yesterday, with lot's of phalanxes , the enemy routed ( which they did a the sight of the pikes ) directly IN my pikes..
    they didn't even think of running back and AWAY from those killer pikes... no they obviously prefered to die for Rome... yes I was facing the SPQR main army, pretty much an anti-climax for one of the most important battles of the game.
