Adding North America to RTR3 map

I'm trying to add part of North America (the east coast up to the Texas area) as part of my mod but the game keeps crashing. Is there like a max size for the map dimensions? I expanded the map westward across the Atlantic and moved everything, taking care to make sure it all fits and following the map instructions in the tutorials but I worry it might be due to a limitation in pixel dimensions.

I determined that if I doubled the map size it would give me enough space as the area from Portugal to the Caspian sea is apparently the same distance going across the Atlantic to about Texas. Hopefully this is possible, is it?

I think I´ver read somewhere around this forum or in the "guides and tutoriasl" that there is a maximum distance between cities. Search through it, its a better bet...

The settlements cannot be more than 50 tiles by road away from each other. If we increase the scale of the map we will be extending the distances beyond this limit, thus breaking the game mechanics.

Yikes so that I'll have to effectively 'shrink' the Atlantic so that the westernmost European city... Galway... is within 50 tiles of err... Louisburg on Cape Breton. Sigh... will try it out! Thanks very much :)

I haven´t tried myself, so I´m not sure if it refers only to land tiles there...It says 50 tiles by road, so it might be the case
