I believe that EA do not run a Shogun server anymore, but there is a fake server ran by someone at totalwar.org which you can play from... I guess you'll have to wait until someone with more info than me pops along but I think you can find details through a link on the main page of the site.

Welcome

You do not have to register with EA to play shogun/WE online.
They no longer have a server running.
As Wilbo said, there is a FakeServer set up for people to play online though not many are online at any given time (depends who and when they log on)
To connect to the FakeServer you need to change the Internet.cfg file that is in your main dir.
To do this.....go to..program files..totalwar..shoguntotalwar/we..and you will see a list of folders and files. Look for the Internet.cfg or Internet file. Double left click to open it and change the ChatserverIPAddress to...
ChatserverIPAddress=212.238.194.39 and change the Chatserver Port to..
ChatserverPort=8793
It should ask you to save changes click yes.

Also, you will need the patch v1.02

alternatively, if you have MTW VI, download the Samurai Wars Mod - lots of people playing that at the moment.

Not certain when is the best time to play now.
It used to be around 8pm GMT and mostly on weekends.

Yes you can play on a 56k connection. I did for some time before getting Broadband

As KyodaiSteeleye says If you have MTW/VI, install the Samurai Wars mod and play Shogun. All the information you need for this can be found in the signature of Puzz3d, in any of his posts. (STW mod and others) in the Jousting Field.
Last night saw a few 4v4 and 3v3 games being played.

I keep on getting CTD's or Failed TO connect wqhen trying the fakeserver, can anyone help me on this or is this some strange occurance only on my own computer?

you should download one with WE edition in brackets and either the euro or asia patch depending if your from europe or asia, if your not from europe or asia ahh i guess its pot luck.

Visit that url and download the config files. Just install that in your STW WE root and play MP.

Or open internet.cfg in the STW root directory and replace the content by:

ChatserverIPAddress = 212.238.194.39
ChatserverPort = 8793
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797
ShogunTotalWarWebsite = www.totalwar.com

and play.

How many files do I have to download from your url? I already changed my internet.cfg by opening it from my STW root directory. Are there two internet.cfgs (one in STW directory and the other in the STW WE directory)?

If you have two installs of Shogun...Shogun(old version) and Shogun/WE you will have two separate root dir.

If you have changed your Internet,cfg file as you say then that is all you need. You need to change both dir Internet.cfg files if you want to play either Shogun or Shogun/WE online.
