For those who might have missed it before 9like me there are a couple of screen of Time Commanders 2 here. As to why the indians are on African heffalumps I'm completely baffled.

Nice, love the new Indian cavalry and archer models. Yes, it's extremely odd that they used the African elephant models instead of Indian ones. The Indian elephants are already included in the game and are easily modded into the unit list with a ridiculously simple change in the export_unit_descr.txt file!Originally Posted by Catiline

It is strange that CA made the Indian elephant model, then put in the wrong kind of elephant in the game. The big African savannah/bush elephants were not used for warfare.
If you want to use the Indian Elephants for the "War Elephants" it is rather simple to change the mount. In the export_descr_unit.txt under mount change the "elephant african" to "elephant_indian." Note that there is no Indian elephant model for the Cataphract Indian Elephants, so you are stuck with the African Cataphract.
CA for some reason never finished cleaning up the Indian Elephant model. The howda is too short so the archers stick out the back and front unless you make some changes. Plus the archers and mahout are floating a bit off of the mount. To fix this change the following in descr_mount.txt for the indian elephant entry:
First, adjust elephant height:
root_node_height 2.52 was 2.27
then adjust rider placement:
rider_offset 0.0, 1.10, 1.306
rider_offset 0.0, 0.9, 0.35
rider_offset 0, 0.9, -.20
This will make the Indian/asian elephants about the same height as the African elephants--and looks about right for the Indian elephants when compared to pics I have of riders on Thai elephants. It will also put the riders in the right positions (same relative position as on the African beasts except the archers are a bit closer to each other to compensate for the short length howda.)
Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.
