Just thought everybody would want to know that Rome won that award. Even with all of the problems Rome is a great game in my opinion.

What other RTS games was it up against?
robotica erotica
imo RTW is in a class of it's own.Originally Posted by Colovion

Well, you know according to the venerable "core niche" players, MTW has it all over RTW, so maybe MTW should have won.

Yes, and RTW was not among the top 5 games of 2004 for any of the CGW editorial staff. Their review, while good in the rating number (4.5 out of 5), seemed to focus an usually large section of the review on where the game came up short from being outstanding.Originally Posted by Nelson
It was a rather strange review for a "top game". In the current issue, they mention RTW's lack of historical accuracy. They've had quite a different view of the game from most of the other up-beat reviews I've read. Their view of the game seemed to most closely match the reaction of the majority of the views expressed by the Org patrons.Originally Posted by CGW review

i believe that these awards were for games released this year negating MTW
and of course the only reason its not in the top 5 is because only classy sophisticates such as us understand the depth of the game. other people only have the mental capacity for 1st person shooters (not badmouthin 1st person shooters just the people who cannot enjoy stratagy games)![]()

I thought the very same thing when I read their review.Originally Posted by Gregoshi
What’s funny is that they criticize Rome for a lack of historic fidelity after plopping it into the same boat with BFME and War Hammer! TW is such an odd fish regarding genre.

Puppets,
I know the game had to be released in 2004. I was being sarcastic.

Warhammer, BFME, Full Spectrum Warrior and I believe a few others came out. Rome is a good game despite the problems, hopefully 1.2 will fix a good deal of them. Seeing as it is 56mbs and I cannot dl it at home due to the length I have to go to a friend's to dl it. Hope it is worth it.
