    Default Chariots

I had the misfortune of getting the crap beaten out of me when I played Briton, basically because im a n00b when it comes to using chariots. The Generals chariot units seem massively inferior to the cav counterparts of other nations. I lost pretty much every general that I put into combat.

Secondly is is right that even when a unit is routing and I send a chariot unit to chase them down - all that happens for about 10 minutes is that the soldiers just keep getting knocked down - only to get back up *several* times. It took one of my generals 5 minutes on fast speed to eliminate a unit of routing peasants.

I ended up hiring Merc cav to do the job of chasing them down.

Its sad really cos I really wanna play the Brit campaign properley, and the Chariots are letting me down big time.

Any hints on how to use chariots more effectively than seeing them play skittles with the enemy (only to see them get back up all the time!)?

The chariots are like weakened elephant units. They are best for breaking formations due to the launching attribute of attack.

It's best to charge through the enemy rather than let them stay in melee. Best to follow up with cav but Brits don't have cav. Use infantry to follow up quickly to exploit the chaos. I've had practically insta routed enemy inf this way.

Get Barb merc cav any time you can when playing the Brits, Worth their weight in gold.

Chariots are really scary. In one of my last battles I faced 6 British family members, that also brought a full stack along, this along with the Huge unit size ended with many many chariots.

I set my legions up in very deep formation so I could stop and grind them. What happened was an absolute opposite, after a couple of seconds my organised army fell into total chaos, there were chariots everywhere, this was closely followed by a British charge...I thought it's over, I managed to win though, loosing half of my army. These were the biggest losses I had suffered in a long time.

In time the chariots got stuck and were killed, but the chaos their charge brought down on my legions resulted in my men getting attacked from every side possible and made my men forget even the word formation.

    Fear the chariots!

fun fun but if you stress your imagination a reeeal lot just immagin what it was like as ramses II at kadesh you have 2000 chariots and 6000-7000 men the hittites have 3000 chariots and 10000 men...i will be damned if any movie or videogame can capture that in the next 10 years

I was using both light and heavy - didnt notice much difference.

Its a bit frustrating that these guys cant kill an enemy unit on the run.....
