    Exclamation Forcing 1280x1024 res!

How can I force this? I change it in preferences and it just changes back to default.

Someone mentioned though that it can be done in the patch thread, but it still doesn't work. As a result I'm still playing with a fuzzy game because I'm on an LCD monitor...

I got a LCD too but I use -ne in my shortcut to play in window mode and I prefer that now.

Must be specific to your system, because I can do it with preferences.txt. If you try to check it in game it will probably reset because it won't recognize the mode. When I tested it it would show something like 800x600x16 in the resolution menu, but it clearly wasn't and I used my monitor's OSD to confirm that I was indeed in 1280x1024.

edit the descr auto optimize file
    replace ctrl+h
    replace what 960
    replace with 1024
    replace all

Just change it in the preferences.txt like I do.
There is hardly anything less complicated.

Sorry to be a shmoo if this is the same question, but I just re-installed R:TW and forget how to get 1600x1200 res.

    Thanks.

You need to do the more complex editing of the \data\descr_auto_optimise_options.txt file.

I suggest importing the file into your spreadsheet program of choice for editing.
This allows the column titles to match up with the columns they represent.

The columns you need to change are:
    max_supported_campaign_screen_width
    max_supported_campaign_screen_height
    max_supported_battle_screen_width
    max_supported_battle_screen_height

You can either work out which line is appropriate & change the values then paste that line back into the .txt
or just change all the widths to 1600 & heights to 1200 ccight down the column & then paste the whole lot into the .txt
Make sure the formatting of the .txt hasn't changed before saving.

    Me, I change line 2 4 4 2 with my R9800 (vertex shader 2.0), A64 3200+, 1gb ram, 128mb graphics ram (ie on the R9800)
I have a saved spreadsheet that I just copy the line from as needed.

This is all because of the silly autodetect system that seems to think my system can only handle 1280 * 960 while my 19"CRT has a native res of 1280 * 1024.
I also tend to set pretty much everything else to max while I'm at it.

Autodetect should only set suggested settings, not remove anything higher from the list
