I'd like it if barbarian settlements were harder to take in general.

I see no real difference between a palisade and a wooden wall to tell the truth, the so called 'improved' defences on the later are useless, the wall lasts a few seconds longer against a ram and the city may survive a couple more turns before being starved out.

Not really much for whole other level of wall. I'd like to see the barbarians get not stone walls but a barbarian equivalent, still made of wood and much more fragile than a stone wall but still with decent towers and walkways to mount troops on.

You could use siege towers, ladders and saps to assault them or you could still walk a ram up to the wall and start battering it down with that, though it would take a while and you'd be exposed to fire from the towers and defenders the entire time.

Yeah, Barbarians, or Gauls at least, should be able to build a hilltop fort at their third city level. A reinforced wall at the top of a hill would be an utter arsehole to try and defeat if defended properly.

i would think it the coolest thing if you could desingn your own fort, that way you could make some historicly accurate and extremely well defended fort. not a settlement but a well fortified uh fort with first level stone walls, towers and moats.
sweet huh mabey double walls, watchtowers, watever or mabey i am just being stupid again...it happens.

If you like building your own castles (fort, castle, close enough ) I reccommend the game series called Stronghold. First class castle-building (and seiging!)

Give some time to the poor AI, it will self-destruct if it will be forced to capture custom forts
