    Default Unfriendly allies

    Hi,

I am playing Scipii. Got Carthage, allied with Numidians, then got Thapsus and move half my army towards Spain.

A big Numidian army has appeared from west, ignored Carthage and is now stationing close to Thapsus. They are not sieging, nor are they leaving away. Just being there for three turns. Of course we are just "allied", I have not given them the right to cross my territory.

With 1.1 I knew that after one turn, the IA army would attack. But here with 1.2, three turns... What are they waiting for? Is there a means for having them leave? Should I attack now? If yes I will take a huge reputation malus, right?

    Thanks!

There should be a diplomatic option to tell them to get off your land like in civ 3. It reall annoys me that people without rights to your territory can roam freely across your land, and you have no way to get them off but attack - pretty bad diplomatic options in that case.

Yes thats very annoying, I usually find though that sending a modest army into the vicinity of the *allied* army will usually scare them off from causing confrontation.

I dont think there is any reputation system, other than to the faction u are directly confronting with.
Why cant we just get along???

Did you put up no trespassing signs?

NO TRESSPASSING : All violators will be put to the sword

If not put those up first then come back and ask

Have a dilpomat within distance to a Numidian unit/city. Go kick the armies butt then ask for a ceasefire. If they don't accept the ceasefire they were planning on using that army in the near future more than likely. If they do accept they were scouting with there army and nothing else.

As far as getting bad diplomatic points. I do'nt think you will. At least you should'nt. You only get bad points when you cross borders or have an army in neutral territory for more than 1 turn from my observations.

Does it matter, I kill all trespassers. Occasionally they leave before I get a chance to kill them.

Anyways it's my observation the A.I. only marches into neutral territory for 3 reasons. Usually they do'nt chase down rebels out of there land but I have noticed on occasion they do, so I let that slide as they are not snuffing off some rebels on me. Second reason is they got chased into my territory because they had nowhere else to retreat. In that case I just ignore it. The third reason is reconasance, and when you see them trespassin expect a war to come shorty.
