    Default Making battles run faster

For some reason, when in battles, I can make it run much faster by alt-tabbing and then just popping back in-game while on the battlefield. For some reason, it seems to run much much more smoothly when it has to re-load itself from windows. This isn't the ultimate solution to end laggyness, but for me at least it helps immensly.

I just thought I'd share that here because this seems to be the most looked-at board, rather than posting it in the technical forum I thought it would help more people here.

Hmm, I do alot of that but havn't noticed any difference, maybe its a windows paging file thing , I have set a large custom permanent paging file , a windows managed one might be the reason for this.

You could also try some of these settings available for system performance (control panel->system->advanced->settings->advanced ) I also set processor and memory options to program(though I don't know if that is optimal.).

    Perhaps a techy could comment?

my battles always run fast even with 18.000 units on the field maybe because i don't have internet on my comp

I don't see how "internet" could affect it.

If your PC has to host all the millions of websites there are out there then I would expect you to experience some slowdown - never mind email etc :-)

If it's just *connected* to the internet then there shouldn't be a problem, unless you're getting all sorts of malware through the connection.

If you go in task manager and end some user processes that'll do the trick.

go to www.tweaktown.com & see everything on xp that can be shutdown, as long as your not on a network, i noticed a huge increase in ram which helps my games run smoother, but then i already have over a gig of ram anyway
