If he is taking his ease, give him no rest.
If his forces are united, separate them.

Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where

OHOHOHOH! So our clan daimyo has been sit in the throne room himself for some good hours! He has secretly put on a new name flag on his back, trimmed his beard, and wearing an ashigaru uniform as disguise!

Now the samurai of Shimazu has realized their mistake and rushed into the throne room (and the door was opened by Shiro). They feel ashamed of not recognizing their daimyo for such a long time! Please don't deduct our salary!

    -----

So... the meeting objective is to decide the game settings and features. The things to be decided are: game difficulty, game settings (fog, ammo, camera), unit size, port attack, save-load games, etc.

So how about me making a start here. I'd say:

Game Difficulty: Hard. To play expert we might need to concentrate the military power on one or two really good generals throughout the game, which is not very suitable here. Normal is not really challenging, so I think Hard is more appropriate.

Game Settings: All Realistic. I guess for the sake of role-playing, we can try to make things more resemble to the real world.

Unit Size: 60. We will need more units to be assigned to generals played by members.

Port Attack: No Opinion at all.

Save-Loads: Allowed but not recommended. We will have difficulty to prevent save-loads as a member might want to refight a battle. However, we will encourage members to stay honorable and refrain from save loads. The story will be more interesting this way, too.

for the sake of the clan, Im gonna use narf.
    My Votes
    No Save loads
    Explain Port attack
Possibly no resticted camera (allows for more strategy)
    unit size 60.
What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we'll never know.

    My votes are:
no port attacks (we don't need it)
we can say no save loads, but no way to enforce it...
60 man units, cause some of us use dinosaurs to play on
    fog, etc, on limited ammo
I would definitely vote for unlimited camera, because you could get more different screen shots that way (like a view of the enemy as they set up) although I am not married to the idea

how about each of us also suggest a day of campaign starting? then the daimyo can decide based on everyone's opinion.

I think we can start over the weekend. How about GMT Saturday July 28 0:00 AM? (that is about 27 hours from now)

The time will be the first in-game clan meeting deciding the direction for year 1530 (or whatever decided by the daimyo). Everyone can check the starting status on his own copy of STW, so there is no need for the executor to distribute the save game file.

I don't think my say really matters but........unlimited ammo is not good............sure its fun but not as logistic nor strategic

    Honorable daimyo,

Port attack refers to the controversial "port-bug" constantly discussed by samurai. A port attack is to invade a non-adjacent (usually very distant) province using army solely via the port. Some say it is a bug because the AI does not utilize this feature (but the AI do send distant reinforcement via ports to a province adjacent to their territory).

Some people argue that port attack can successfully disturb the horde from behind, while I find it makes quite little difference in terms of the overall speed of unification.

    ----

Anybody has suggestion on the game difficulty?

There aren't any Naval Ships that you can build are there?

It would be awsome if the Expansion pack had at least some form of naval comabt.......but not to much

As far as start times go...
I cannot be there anytime Saturday, or Friday evening for that matter, as I will be on my way to Lincoln, Nebraska to hit people with sticks. Since I am not one of the beginning generals, that should not really be a problem. I feel that it would be unwise of this poor samurai to question the wisdom of the mighty and powerful Daimyo, whatever course he chooses for his servants. They're all the enemy, anyway, right? Crush Them.
I will be checking in until about 10:00 GMT tomorrow (if I did my math right!) and will be back some time Sunday (probably around 10 or 11 GMT)

Indeed, honorable EuroSan, Heir of Shimazu. I just recalled one battle from the Hojo war series. I've never seen 370+ kill by a yari samurai unit.

    Hi Vangersonm:

You can still join the campaign if you want. The sign up does not have a deadline or anything. There are still vacancies for the famous generals, and you can also choose to become a new general. It will be also fine if you just want to audit our clan meeting. But you must pass the spy detector set up by our mighty gatekeeper Shiro

Hi vangersonm: You need to pass the following test:

    1. Vision. Must be able to tell a YS from YA from a distance of 1/4 of the battlefield length.

    2. Hearing. Must be able to distiguish the march sound of a Yari Cavalry from a Cavalry archer.

    3. Memomry. Must be able to rehearse the phrase "My Lord! Your land holder has reported that, your peasants were lazy!..." with no error.

    ---

Oh no! I was just kidding.
No test is needed. Simply sign up on the thread http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000226.html

Oh! here comes our young daimyo! If my memory serves, Shimazu Takahisa is only 16 at year 1530, too. So it is quite a good role play here.
