I decided to put a pretty dramatice spin on my game. After thinking about it for a while I decided to set up a story as follows (in character)
270BC
I, Antiochus Leader of my people and my proud empire of the Seleucid, have recieved grave news. News that chills my aged bones to their very core, and the core of my people. For our once peaceful neighbours have decietfully schemed war upon us in their plenty. The evil culprits are named as those Egyptians, the Parthians, the Armenians, Pontus and our once brothers in arms - the Greeks. They see our rich lands and ports as trophies and my people cannot stand against them all. We are doomed. Already there are 5 Armies marching toward our peaceful borders and I fret and pace on what I should do to protect my children.
I council with my Sons and their sons on what fate shall befall our nation.
It has been decided.
On the Basis of myth and legend we will turn our hopes in a terrible path, a shameful path. A path that will lead us away from our homes to a land we fear may not exist. In that myth we here in songs of a green land vacant of all human life save for some poor savage souls. We intend to educate these people if we are successful in our epic journey.
The evacuation begins and a plan must unfold to protect our escape.
At Antioch we begin the great build of many ships. In all my other fair town I encourage the forming of the peasants and evacuate before they are besieged.
My Son of the immortal name Alexander has volunteered his people to go ahead of us from Sardis as they already have a ship in their docks. His journey began in 265BC. Sardis is now lost to us. Seleucia also is also now abandoned to the Parthians, Damascus, Haltra and Tarsis follow soon after. They come to me their father in our capital to help the great build of our fleet.
Our second fell then leaves with our people, they plan to inhabit an Island along the way to secure we are not trapped at sea. An Island of rebels that we shall overcome - Crete.
I leave with the last of my people and the tears of our womenfolk are only matched by the storms ahead of us. By now Alexander should be beyond the great mouth of the mediterrenean and our people on Crete our safe from the Egyptian fleets that are now persuing us. Even now I go into battle with them.
We defeat them but we must all be haste for I know they do not give up as thus.
I hold the hands of my sons and grandsons on crete briefly, and then on my way to Alexander.
We receive word on Crete of the Death of my father Antiochus, a grief appears on my soul. But I Aristarchus must now hope that Alexander reaches the green shores soon so that I may follow from crete. Our navy dwindles off the coast as more and more Egyptians come to feast.
The day comes of our arranged evacuation from Crete. I am joyous as by now my brother Alexander should be building our new home.
My hope is that I and my brother, my sons and his sons will slip by this Egyptian net....
It now falls to me to relate the horror of our flight. I am Eumenis and I can almost not relate to you the pain my people have suffered. We have reached the lands of Hibernia, green and lush as myth told us. But on the shores of this land I find the head of my brother and his family - sickeningly stuck on pikes along the beach. These savages now pay as we slaughter and exterminate their kind from this land.
Now that they are gone I begin the rebuilding of our nation, from these huts will rise great temples to await my brothers.......
But they do not come. I fear they are lost to the Egyptians....It is a blow like no other to learn that eight of my family are now lost.
My grief aside I will now lead my people against new foes on the horizon -
The Britons....
