majority board?

hello guys

I have been thinking over the last few months , and having read the boards, it occured to me that the one thing this forum is missing is a board devoted to posters over the age of majority...

Let me explain.....

I posted a hilarious post called 'concentration test' that had to be deleted, quite righty, because it failed the 'PG' test.

It was very funny....as I'm sure the 83 peeps who read it would agree..

So....

It isnt beyond the scope of the administrator to allow viewers into the forums.....c'mon guys we all know this from the clan websites....with the hidden boards for the members.

So my proposal is this.....

A forum for members over the age of majority ( I'd say 18 would cut it ) ....given that the normal forum rules apply....so no flaming, and regretfully no porno plz guys...

nb. although 'tactful' poses would be fine for yours truly

I agree 16 would be logical...however there may well be legal implications that would exclude the posters under the age of majority.........

I really doubt they are going to allow this or even create it. People here have family members that are very uptight about their children looking at dirty words. It's irational off course seeing as how kids swear really bad. Have you ever seen South Park. Well that's what actual kids are like. It's true. I was exactly like Cartman when I was 8.

How would you know that the person is "actually" 16? For all you know I could be 8 years old. Then again, 8 year olds would post more comprehensive posts!!! Doody heads...

whereas i have no great moral objection personally to such a forum, the general legal age for this sort of thing is 18. check any 'objectionable site' and it's always 18 (or as restricted by any local authority to be otherwise). and since porn was mentioned and since porn or nudity would most likely be THE hot topic and main reason for such a forum (i mean, why have an 'adult' forum if not for that?), i'd have to say this stands very little chance and i would be against it. i mean come on, give me a valid reason(s) for such a forum within our community for having such a forum if not for nudity and/or porn. what else are you going to use this for?

and, the question of verifying age is also quite valid. realistically, how would we do that and WHY would we want to? seems like a lot of work on our part. i suppose it could be done on the basis of signing some sort of consent form or something or doing it like some sites do and just give you a warning that you're entering an 'adult' forum and that you attest to being 18 or over, but quite frankly, i'd refer back to my first paragraph and ask, 'just what do you expect to post/read in this forum that would require this sort of restriction?'.

so, frankly, i think this is a bad move, particularly for a fan game site. i'd just as soon not be helping to moderate or be that closely associated with a porn or even soft porn site.

I agree with Kraellin, if you want to talk about things that are controversial or a bit less proper go to the bakcroom but I do not think any sort of porn or porn links belong here.....

i don't think the originator of the thread meant porn, but more like nudity in the context of something else. i recently saw a link for something that was humorous, but the nudity was an integral part of the joke. without it, the joke would have made little sense. nevertheless i agree with the naysayers that i don't feel an adult subforum belongs on the org, though i shamelessly looked at the 'evidence' when i had the chance.

Well,

the internet is vast and the possibilities endless.
The next pron site is only a click away. You don't have to come here to find it.
I don't hink there's a need to "pollute" this board with anything non-TW-related.
In the Tavern and especially the backroom we already have off-topic discussions. Some of them well beyond the horizon of minors. The restriction to civilized posting has even changed the style of a few adult posters. I think it's a good thing to maintain that. The EH-rule has also contributed to that.

Every once in a while while surfing in other forums I realize what a civilized place the .org is in comparison. Please keep it that way.

Thanks for all the imput guys, I will say this, I recently joined totalwars.net and there they have an 'adult' forum, and it does indeed seem to consist of 'soft' porn....this isnt really what I had in mind...I thought more like humour and suchlike that might well be inappropriate for minors.

However thankyou to all who replied and I will, of course defer to Tosa and on reflection (and after viewing .net) I tend to agree with the naysayers...
