In the first year, i started building castle's in satsuma and nagano.
I made samurai archers every turn, and after a year i attacked Imagawa,
in chikuezen he gave up, in chikugo and hizen i won easily!
i left ashigaru to keep the loyalty, i sent the rest of my troops to nagano, where ...

Hello Drisos, I see you are making progress by the day. Shimazu has a good starting position, even though they have a Koku problem and their army isn't very impressive. If you manage to get their show on the road you will have mastered all of the basic principles.Originally Posted by drisos
Could you tell me why you didn't attack Chikugo (300 Koku!) straight away, or in, say, turn two or three? All you need to do in the first year is produce archers and samurai, really, and Chikugo is up for grabs. Don't be too cautious now. There is nothing wrong with an aggressive campaign, as long as you bear in mind that after every decisive victory you will immediately face a new enemy. You won't get a breather. So don't bleed your armies in decisive assaults if you can't replace your losses on the next turn.
Most Guides state that you have no need to upgrade in the first few years, but I beg to disagree. I start building in Nagato as of turn 1 to get a Spear Dojo there, bearing in mind that Nagato is the only Shimazu starting province with mineral deposits. Once Mori and Takeda have slugged it out over Aki you will need that Armoury in Nagato to protect yourself from the clan that came out victorious. You see: in fighting one enemy, you prepare for the next.
Couldn't hurt to have a Port in Satsuma and Nagato by that time, too. In case you are short of Koku, the Ronin start pestering you and Imagawa refuses to leave you alone, you can always destroy the Port in Hizen. Brings in money and frees up troops for the other fronts.
Good luck and let's hear from you!![]()

Ive won with shimazu. THey have the best stasrting postion. They army is fine and Mori and the rebels are weak at the start. So onward![]()
