    Default Stonewalls = happiness

    It seems a lot of the mods use the palace for happiness. When stonewalls seem like a better taget especiially for the A.I. making the human build the stonewalls if they want the happiness factor

    How do I make stonewalls to add happiness. It makes sense too, are people going to feel happier behind a paliside or an epic stone wall that the birds struggle to flyover.

    I might be adding an extreme but I was thinking of 15, 25 and 30 plus 10 law for an epic stonewall. The better a stonewall the less of a garrison should be required.

    The main reason I want to do this is because 15 units of peasants keeping a city in order just does not seem right plus the micromanagemant when you need to throw your real troops in or out.

    Second thing I'm guessing it's hardcoded but keeping public order with unit upkeep costs rather than numbers. If not is there anyway mod this at all.

    Good idea! I never build stone walls, but with a mod like that I would.

    Another thought about the population/squalor explosion is to create a new line of buildings with negative population growth (-1% to -3%). This way you can achieve zero growth without resorting to rebellion/massacre cycles.

    For realism, we can call it the "Citizenship Registry" building. Keeps all the rabble out!

    I actually presumed they must do that to a certain extent anyway?
    Thats how logical an idea it is.
    People would be a lot more calm if they knew their town was surrounded by sturdy walls than if there was a mere row of stakes.
    maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

    Well I downloaded hadrian building editor and it's a done deal. Now all I need to do is investigate what is a common factor on the A.I sending full stacks. If I can figure that out that could be modded in to make more epic battles

    Absolutely Oaty, I've been advocating this for a while.

    Particularly because of two things.

    1. The human player rarely needs to build walls as he is constantly expanding, so a bonus would make him think twice about not building walls. BTW I think a small bonus only of ~5% otherwise it becomes a no brainer versus other buildings with bonuses.

    2.The corollary is the ai really needs walls to defend itself against the human player so will benefit relatively by having a bonus.

    3. The third idea is maybe to make walls the training grounds for those low level troops like militia hoplites or at least specific bonuses for these guys.

    I think you could do it with the following edit:

    stone_wall requires factions { ct_carthage, eastern, parthia, egyptian, greek, roman, }
    {
    capability
    {
    wall_level 2
    tower_level 1
    gate_defences 1
    gate_strength 1
    happiness_bonus bonus 1
    }
    construction 3
    cost 1600
    settlement_min city
    upgrades
    {
    large_stone_wall
    }
    }
