Seleucids seem to be ruling the day!

At last the Seleucids are not getting smacked around! Currently in my game they have taken over most of Asia minor (not Pontus though, as Pontus is their protectorate) they have kicked the greeks out and taken Rhodos too, eliminated Armenia and are thrashing Egypt at the moment.

I finally get to fight the Seleucids late game, with huge armies, silver shield legionaries, elephants and whatnot

Good to see that some things change after the patch :)

I've never seen them go on conquering that much, in all my campaigns they play defensively but are very successful at it - No more Egypt the cheating world power, that is.

I NEED to see one!

The Seleucids and the Egyptian battle for eastern supremicy is a lot like the turk/byzantine battle in MTW. Who ever wins is the big power in the east. And a major hurdle to over come. But I've never goten far enough in my post patch camps as some one other than Egypt or the Seleucids to see who comes out on top.

I sure can't say the same. I modded my game so the Seleucids, Carthage, and SPQR all started with 150,000. I'm playing as the Julii and I just wiped Gaul off the map (240ish BC) and the Seleucid still have their original territories and Carthage is down to those southern two in Africa (I forget the names, those worthless southwestern African provinces.) Also, Macedon now owns and the Brutii and Scipii suck, it seems. This is my second campaign in 1.2, the first as Armenia. I crushed the Seleucids myself the first then and still noticed the Carthage, Scipii, Brutii-lameness.

that's because they finally get the good amount of starting cash, and don't built only levies anymore.

It's all well and good for the Seleucids, but they're way harder to beat in the endgame than the Egyptians. I almost miss the Egyptian hegemony now, they never came at you with elephants, cataphracts and angry, angry pikemen.

it hapend to me ONCE in 1.1 after the Seleucids won an heroic vict. over the egyptians.i was ruling ALL of the asia minor with schythia.

Im playing with TOTALREALISM MOD 5.1, year is 182 BC, I conquered Greece after 30 years of fighting. On the north I reached Alesia and my armies stoped there because heavy attacks from Iberia and Gauls.
Im also in war with Dacia, Thracia, Britons and Carthage.
In my game Selecuids conquered Egypt and are in war with Carthage. They are Strongest faction after Romans.
I will invade them from Byzantium:-)
