Is it possible to mod the game so that you can upgrade pre-reform to post-reform?

i was wondering since it sucks to disband silver chevron hastati and equites.
so, can this be moded like when the when the generals upgrades after the reform or is it impossible? (without moding the code?)

i looked in some files, but didn't find anything. any help would be nice

edit: i found some info in the export_descr_buildings file, but it seems that it would require major moding to see if it can work at all. (don't take my word for it, i haven't moded the game much)

well, I thought I could post the (little) information i got (from the export_descr_buildings file)

            faction_capability

				upgrade_bodyguard 1
            }
            construction  6 
            cost  6400 
            settlement_min large_city
            upgrades
            {
            }

here is a part of the code that uppgrades the bodyguard, its the only thing i can find that seems related to uppgrading units.
so, does anyone know something that may help in some way?
