It's official: The AI is an oxymoron

Just playing a custom battle. The story behindit was that a small roman force had captured a barbarian fort. Two large barbarian armies, one german and one dacian had come to capture back the fort.
I was playing as germans. Each barbarian army had 4 super duper archer warbands. That was were i made my mistake. As my troops poured into the fort, they reached the plaza for the last big melee battle against a First cohort and some hastati, but the dacians thought it would be a superb idea to fire into all of the romans i was fighting. And what happens? Half of the arrows missed as usual, and flew straight into my troops!! In about 1 minute, the dacians had accidentally destroyed one night raider unit and 1 chosen axemen unit!! They were useless!! Complete morons!!

This is why I want a campaign map save replay feature. I have not had things like these happen and I want to see for myself.

They prolly will never include a campaign map replay feature. Maybe in the expansion pack though.

I don't know, seems like the Dacians performed beautifully. They killed some of the enemy and managed to weaken your troops at the same time. Without any losses to themselves. Any time I can manage to 'accidentally' take out a few of my allies troops, I make it a point to do so. After all, I'll probably be fighting against them some day.

To be fair I think Mikeus knew that, and was saying that the phrase "artificial intelligence" is oxymorinic (i.e. self-contradictory) in the context of RTW because it's not exactly clever.

No go dacians. And, once they battered down the gate, rather than sending in all their infantry which they had crowded around the gate, they send in their general. But, their general has to run through all of the infantry standing around at the gate, so that they are slowed down. They might as well have just walked into the enemy. Their general was dead in seconds.

They were meant to be beating the shit out of the romans, instead they got the shit beat out of them by the romans, but when i come to save them, they have to shoot at me. I'm just another piece of cannon fodder to those retards. It's a good thing i didn't go ahead with my other plan to give them bloody onagers....they would have put my entire army in flames....
