Thread: Dismounting

    Default Dismounting

I remember reading in the beginners guide that certain units can dismount only for sieges and others can dismount for sieges or regular battles. Now that I think about it however, I don't ever recall being prompted about this.

Is there something you need to do to get your mounted men to dismount and if so, at what stage (i.e. deployment before you hit begin battle or in the initial match up screen)?

Just right click on the horse unit. Then read down the list of options and there should be a Mout/Dismount option. Just click that and they will get off, to make them get back on repeat the directions.

Also, you know the glitch that removes the picture icon from your units if you go to desktop and then back to game? You can just dismount and remount a unit and the pictures come back. Dunno why? It just does. Doesn't help if you don't have any units that can dismount though. You just have to wait till you get reinforcements. ^^

I am not sure what you mean, but if it is the disappearance of the unit pix on the bottom of the battle screen there is an easy solution: group two units (select two units using the ctrl key and press G) and the pix reappear. Now you can ungroup them - the pix stay.

One note: you can only dismount BEFORE battle on the deployment screen.

Just create a group and then ungroup it, you should get the same effect. Glad to know I'm not the only onewho has hit the Windows key while going for the Alt key.

I always try to pick up any Druzhina Cavalry that become available as mercs or to bribe armies with Druz. These guys dismount into a 60 man Feudal Knight, which is nice.

LOL yeah Damned windows key >.< . Yes Druzinha's are probably one of the only few Mercs I get all the time, at least until I get my own elite swordsmen or Pole-arms (Those and Vikings, Longbowmen and Billmen ). Anyone ever actually used them as mounted units? they any good? Once I forgot to put them in the starting line up. Well pee'd me off that you couldn't dismount em as re-inforcements. Good job they were late down the queue. . .

Plain mounted Druz have relatively low stats, a unit of 60 can get chewed up by a pumped up 40 Feudals, but still do some damage. I try to place them in stacks with my high command generals (or guys that have ++ morale Virutes).

As flankers they are quite nice, get 'em around back and slam 'em in the rear of the pile and . . .
