i'm looking for new skins my friend +new units, but i don't have a CAS editor and since nobody tells me where i can get it. (btw, that one at www.totalwar.com isn't working.) so i thought i'll put it up to the community (i wanted to make this mine.).

There is no CAS editor, only a CAS importer/exporter:

Look for the post with Cas Import - Exporter by Vercingetorix

You will also need 3Ds Max version 6 or 7 (perhaps 5, but I'm not sure on that). It's an expensive program and I leave it up to you to decide what to do.

A graphics program like Paint Shop Pro (you can download a trial version) or PhotoShop is needed to edit the textures.

Since you are new to this I strongly advise you to search for tutorials on modelling/texturing in 3ds Max and study them well.

    Cheers,
    Duke John

There are lots of units and skins out there on the usual sites. I downloaded a Myrmidon unit yesterday , very nice.

BTW you can just change skins using a 2-d editor (textures).

There is free 3dmax like program called gmax from discreet, unfortunately it can't export the files only import them.(using the Vercingetorix tool) But you could use it , save in gmax format and send to a friend with 3dmax who could then change it into a CAS file.

I'm struggling with this at present , having dug out my 3dmax 4.2 version, this version sometimes works and sometimes not.

If I can get things to work properly then I'd be happy to help you.

BTW look at TWcenter.com and stratcommander.com for more modding advice. One of those contains a good tute on 3d max other tutes are here on the org .

If you've never used a 3-d modelling program its quite a steep learning curve, I reckon you'd have to spend 10-20 hrs on the tutorials first before you would get a reasonable expertise.

Hi, what about a new spartan unit (not hoplite) but forms up to make a shield wall thrusting spears over the top. I love spartans but feel the spartan unit needs to be more flexible for close hand to hand combat.

i think they are good already.

btw the new mods are planning to take away the spartan units, because they weren't as powerful anymore.
