swords look pretty lame in the game. would'n't it be nice to have more difference. like give most hoplites a more leaf-shaped sword. and give spartans the kopis? macedonians also used curved swords ( pretty angular) like

we need more variety in swords! maybe even alter some spearpoints? and give the phalangites a bigger but pike: it need more weight since the sarrissa is so damn long.

Do you know how many types of simple gladius were used? Of course many tribes were using dofferent swords, macedonians were curved, but only their, (have you seen a sword of Alexander in "Alexander" movie - it's pretty historical shape) but it's not the point of this game. Of course you could have MORE swords, MORE armous, MORE bows, MORE shields, MORE barbarian tatoos ons much MORE other stuff but you could have it with MORE CD's and MORE prise and the point of the game is strategy and tactics and in this there are too many bugs to deal with... so wait for expasion and don't expect to much.

I don't know what "spatha" translates to from Latin, but the spatha was the longer sword used by cavalary troopers. It wasn't adopted by the legionarii until after the Severan reforms.

gladius meens sword. but also Penis, revering to the sex-symbol status of the gladiators, wich wielded it.

It's because the Italians use spatha (spada) that I thought it would be the original word. Checked them both in an online dictionary and it's true, gladius comes up as sword first. Spatha is several kinds of tools besides a sword. Cooking utensils? A tool for weaving cloth? The spatula? Hmm... I suspect the original design for the sword wasn't popular with the men.
