What would I use if I wanted to allow Cretan Archers to be built in towns instead of being mercs? I'm just getting into this modding thing and I am a total newb. Any help is appreciated.

You just need notepad for that - and Verc's xpak programme as well.

My suggestion would be to add the non-merc Cretan archers as a new unit - follow this tutorial here.

When I open the caligula thing I click on it and click run it says
"Component COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependents not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid."
    What does this mean?

I'd like to mention my RTW Toolset, which I've just updated to version .005.
    Link is at http://www.totalwar.org/Downloads/Rt...olset_v005.zip

It's currently a descr_strat.txt / campaign editor, but you can see a preview of my Trait/Trigger editor in the current version.

    Thanks,
    BrandonM

(I was going to make a post about it, but it says I can't make new topics)

this looks dead, but does the vercingetorix animation editor actually edit the animations, or do you still need 3dsmax for that? and the link is dead.

Revised links for Vercengetorix's tools listed in first post:
    ___________XPAK___________

Some files are contained within .pak files. These are like zip or rar files. XPAK is the extractor for these files:
    Download

    ___________CAS extractor___________
Models in Rome Total War are saved as .CAS. The CAS extractor is a script for 3ds max which is used to extract and save models from and to this format.

    ___________Idx Sounds and Animation Extractor___________

I just downloaded it and it doesn't close when I load file, so not sure. Are you loading file you have already modded? and what version of RTW are you working on?

If you are just starting out modding, I would recommend making back up copy of all your files, looking at tutorials and learning what to alter by hand, rather than trying to use editor. Editors don't work like magic and in some of them it is possible to make mistakes you then don't have knowledge to trace. (no offence to tool makers )

If you can't get this working and want to make a specific change to a trait, post thread explaining what you are trying to do here.

    Um... Guys...

... I can't get any of the Lordz tools, or the settlement editor, or the cas importer/exporteer to download...

Any help with the bugged links would be hugely appreciated...

I am making a plugin that understands Rome remastered files and coan provide useful features, such as:

    Syntax highlighting
    Syntax error marking
Go to definition / find usages of items (e.g. find all usages of a unit)
Autocompletion (e.g after require resource, provide a list all all resources)
    Mass rename related items
    Code folding
    Various sanity checks
    etch.

A preview of my work is here:

    youtube.com/watch?v=zg-0O6nI8Hs

This is a call for people to help, mainly with giving me info about how things are meant to work, mod-wise, so I know what to make the plugin able to do.
